The Cheerleader

We all know what a cheerleader is. We either know someone, knew someone, is one, was one or had one. Let’s make it personal.

I was and will forever be a Cheerleader. We come in all different shapes, sizes, genders, colors, etc. Nonetheless, we all have two basic things in common.
Cheerleaders have spirit…yes, we do! We look for opportunities to show up and celebrate; win or lose. It could be the game of sports or life, doesn’t matter. We thrive off your efforts, accomplishments, and success stories. Cheerleaders also sacrifice time and energy to motivate and encourage others, sometimes total strangers. In the game, in the stands, at work or on the streets; anywhere and everywhere. A win is a win!
Take a moment and think back. Do you remember your childhood cheerleader? Maybe you were blessed to have more than one. Some of my cheerleaders were not family members; and that’s okay. During this season of giving, thank them. Give them a call, send an email, a text message or put a thank you card in the mail.
Some of you reading this can’t relate; and I get it. For whatever reason, you had to cheer for yourself; and that’s okay too. You didn’t quit. You made it this far. Congrats! Self-care is a great way to show yourself some love. No, we can’t change your childhood, but together we can celebrate and cheer you on to becoming the best you, you can be. Remember, we got spirit...yes, we do!
