Knee Pads

By definition, knee pads are protective coverings for the knees; typically worn for sports or being on the knees for an extended period of time. I’m going to take it a step further and

say, “Knee pads are the best, overlooked, baby shower gift ever made.” My Christian readers may know where I’m going with this.
Like everything else, baby showers come in all different shapes and sizes. From convertible cribs and car seats to cases of wipes and diaper bags. We stock up on much needed onesies to must-have outfits and baby gadgets. Strollers, carriers, sleep sacks, monitors… You name it, we buy it! Yet, we miss out on the one gift that parents, grandparents, and/or legal guardians could use well into their child’s adult years, knee pads.
Prayer is important, effective, and necessary. Personally, it’s right next to my oxygen. I can’t live without it. Unfortunately, protecting our children has its limitations. We live in a world where darkness also resides and reproduces; leaving anxiety, trauma, dysfunction, and brokenness to fend for themselves. When life happens, and it will, I pray. It’s been my starting point since childhood; my first dose of medicine. Without a doubt, motherhood took my prayers to another level. They became more frequent, specific, and personal.
Although kneeling is a valuable expression of humility, like many, I’m guilty of not doing it as often as I should. Lately, I’ve been placing a pillow on the floor for my knees and appreciative for the firm mattress that helps me to my feet. After I post this article, I’m going to take my own advice and purchase knee pads. A set for me and an extra set for a new mother-to-be.
