If you have a husband, son, brother, or blessed to still have your dad, maybe you can help me understand something. We all know, when a man catches a common cold, it’s equivalent to having the flu.

If he’s a little warm, he has a fever. If his stomach hurts, he has a stomach bug. Runny nose… I’ll give you a minute; but you know he’s using the whole roll of toilet paper.

With that being said, why is it so hard for men to make their health and wellness a priority? Surely, the risk of suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure, prostate cancer, etc. should raise an eyebrow. Maybe, they don’t realize how important they are to us. Or maybe we don’t show them how much we love, appreciate, and need them enough.

This Father’s Day, give a gift that is priceless; one that could save his life. Have the conversation about health prevention. Review his current health status, prescriptions, and concerns. Get involved, do the research, make the necessary appointment(s) and follow up. Take the journey with him. Let him know he’s not alone. Yes, he might be a handful; and no, I do not know him. Nonetheless, what I do know is too often we miss it.

Have you ever considered the fact that maybe the tough guy is simply afraid? Or maybe he just needs someone to hold his hand and love him through it. Remember, love is patient. I personally can’t think of a better gift. Can you?

Happy Father's Day to all the dads that stayed, the dads that are trying, and all the single dads that are doing it. We see you!
