There is something about nature that often grabs my attention, particularly mature trees. Their quiet existence, descriptive physiques and visual stability makes me wonder, how do they do it? How do they survive their environment, weather conditions, other trees and humans that are not practicing social distancing?

Over the years, I have come to realize it’s all in their roots. Planted in the right soil, drinking from the rain/riverbanks and bathing in the sun; has allowed them to grow and discover their identity. Not trying to be something they are not. They are simply living the life created for them. Unlike humans, they do not complain, try to alter their appearance and/or change chasing after the next best thing. Mature trees stand tall and firm in their purpose. In other words, they know how to be still and grow.

Is it possible that many of us are not walking in our purpose-as adults, because we are not planted anywhere? We are without roots. Could it be possible that we are trying to grow in a place that does not belong to us? For example, other people’s business. Or have we simply allowed ourselves to become stuck and grow roots in our mistakes and/or poor choices? Think about that for a moment.

What type of tree are you? What type of tree would you like to be? What's stopping you?
